Dear Prospective Students, The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was established in the late fifties as a major department in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. Our graduates have been serving the society since 1961 and have made tremendous impact to the well being and development of Hong Kong. Over the years, power systems, electronics, computer systems and information processing have evolved at a dazzling speed, and have permeated to every aspect of life and the society at large. Nowadays, electrical and electronic engineering is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing and most challenging technologies that propel our society into a knowledge-based economy. Currently, the Department has 36 academic and teaching staff and 48 laboratories with advanced equipment and facilities, serving over 400 undergraduates and 100 postgraduates. Our mission is to produce the highest quality of graduates to serve the society, and to conduct leading edge research. Our education philosophy it to equip students with problem solving skills and life-long learning capabilities. We are committed to offer a fertile intellectual ground for our students to freely develop their independent thinking and to fully realize their leadership potentials while studying to become an engineer.
