FAQs on SIS Enrolment Information

1. Where can I find the Student User Guide for the new SIS?
2. When will the grades of the previous semester will be available in the new SIS system to fulfill the pre-requisite requirement of certain course(s) that I planned to enrol?
3. What should I do when I encountered some unexpected system behavior or responses such as some available courses being missing, or failed to enrol in a course with all pre-req. met and no timetable clash as under the new SIS?
4. What should I do when I cannot add the SAME class of a course again after dropping it in the new SIS?
5. (For Year 1 students)
   How about difficulty in viewing/selecting the course ELEC 1810 - Workshop Training [6 credits, Summer] under the new SIS?
6. (For Year 2 and above students)
   I failed certain core/compulsory course that was not offered in this academic year (2011/2012) anymore, and couldn't enrol in the relevant replacement courses under the new SIS. What should I do?

We understand that many of you need the results to serve as pre-requisites for some courses you want to take in this semester. We just talked to the various units in the University and the results should be available by the early next week.

Please try to enroll in the concerned courses the next Monday. If you still encounter problem, please feel free to let us know. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Please do a screen capture to clearly depict the problem you encountered as under the new SIS, and drop an email to 'enroll@eee.hku.hk' with CC: to jenny@eee.hku.hk.

In your email, please clearly identify yourself by stating ** your full name, university number, programme and year ** and clearly describe the online enrolment problem(s) you encountered in the new SIS. Upon receiving your email, we may respond to you or direct your request to the SIS team for further assistance. Kindly understand that there were quite a lot of requests received in the past few days, do allow a few (2 ~ 3) days before we come back to you.

We were informed that under the new SIS, after dropping a specific class of a course, the new SIS will prohibit you from later adding back the SAME class of the concerned course again. In this case, you may want to directly contact the SIS Support Hotline of SIS Project Office:

to ask them deleting your previous record of enrolment in the relevant course before adding back your concerned class in the new SIS.

We received many inquiries about the concerned problems on viewing ELEC 1810 in the past few days. Accordingly, we have already contacted the Faculty Office and SIS team.It was due to an update problem that should have been fixed. In case you still encounter similar problem, please do not hesitate to email to us (enroll@eee.hku.hk) for further assistance.

If you failed in a core/compulsory course that was not offered in this academic year (2011/12) anymore, you should firstly check the "Mapping of courses for failed core/compulsory course, 2011-2012" available at: http://elink.eee.hku.hk/enrolment/doc/mapping_table.pdf

to find out the relevant replacement course(s) for your failed cores/compulsory course(s) in your respective programme. For instance, if you fail in ENGG1008, you should enrol in ELEC 1306.

After that, please try to enrol in the replacement course(s) in the new SIS. IN CASE you cannot FIND or enrol in the replacement course(s) under the new SIS, please do a screen capture to clearly depict the problem, and drop an email to 'enroll@eee.hku.hk' with CC: to jenny@eee.hku.hk.
