Research Interests

Previously working in microelectronics and semiconductors, Professor Yang has moved into an area of medicine where basic science, engineering, and clinical service have converged. With Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as the functional platform, the research activities include acupuncture, aging and dementia, transgenic mouse models, ion channels, superconductor MRI coils, MR elastography, acoustics, ultrasound, and tissue characterization. The MRI Centre has a low-field 0.2T home-made MRI system and a Philips 3T clinical scanner. Currently, we have active research collaboration and/or student exchange programs with Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins Medical School, Mayo Clinic, University of Paris VII as well as Faculty of Medicine at CUHK and HKU.
