Spintronics, Nanobiotechnology, and Smart Grid.
Dr. Philip W. T. Pong received a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hong Kong (1999-2002). Then he furthered his education at the University of Cambridge and obtained his Ph.D. in Nanotechnology in three years (2002-2005). He was awarded full scholarships for both his undergraduate and postgraduate study. Since receiving his Ph.D., he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Magnetic Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, developing ultra-sensitive magnetic field sensor technology. Recognition of his research achievements includes his invited review article on the topic of scanning tunneling microscopy published in the Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, which was selected as one of the 25 best papers "Highlights 2005" of the journal for its valuable reviews of the field, receipt of the highest praise from the international referees, and the highest number of downloads from the journal website. He is an active reviewer for many international journals and he is currently the associate editor for the International Journal of Modern Physics B and Modern Physics Letters B.
