MSc Overview
The missions of the Department are to produce the highest quality of graduates to satisfy the society needs, to advance the bounds of scholarship and to conduct leading edge research. The goals of the Department are to strive for excellence in teaching, research and in professional service. The philosophy of education in the Department is to provide you with a life-long learning capability. We cannot overstate the importance of this aspect as many current technologies will become obsolete in five years' time. The curricular for different programmes, although emphasis has been placed on different aspects of electrical and electronic engineering, do have a common thread in providing you with a fundamental understanding as well as an up-to-date grasp of cutting edge advanced technologies of this important field. Master of Science in Engineering (EEE)The field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering encompasses computer systems, microelectronics, opto-electronics and lasers, wireless communications and networking, multimedia signal processing, conversion of energy, control systems and many others. It is the technology that is driving the current transformation of the society into the information era. It is the fastest growing and the most challenging technology all over the world. Master of Science in Engineering (EnergyE)The MSc(Eng) in Energy Engineering is new programme offered by the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME). The curriculum provides advanced education and training in the field of Energy Engineering. It covers renewable energy technology, smart grids, electric vehicles, power systems, energy management, carbon audit and other energy-related advanced topics. Some courses in this programme are approved for reimbursement from the Continuing Education Fund (CEF). Master of Science (ECom & IComp)The MSc in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing programme at the University of Hong Kong was the first of its kind offered in the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1999, it is a one-year full-time and two-year part-time programme designed for business executives, policy and decision makers, managers and information technology professionals to equip them with the latest knowledge and skills about technology development and business opportunities in electronic commerce on the Internet.
