GRADING

Each student's final grade for this course will be determined based on their performance in the following areas:

• In-Class Discussions (10%)

  • Take part actively during the class discussion period
  • To get full marks: Be active in 10 of the lectures

• Laboratory (30%)

  • Lab exercise on ultrasound imaging
  • Pre-lab homework (5%)
  • Detailed lab report (25%)
  • All reports must pass plagiarism test on TurnItIn.com

• Quizzes (40% for ELEC 8602; 60% for ELEC 6079)

  • Three in-class quizzes (best 2 of 3, equally weighted)
  • 10 true or false questions, and 2-3 short answer questions
  • Closed book, but one A4-size note sheet allowed (must be handwritten)

• Special-Topic Presentation (20% for ELEC 8602; not applicable to ELEC 6079)

  • Deliver a 15-minute talk on an ultrasound-related topic
  • Involve recital of a review paper of interest to you
  • Seminar day likely to be held on April 12 or 13, 2012
