Projects > Workflow Monitoring
Descriptions
This project focuses on applying the wireless ad-hoc network and sensor technology to monitor the efficiency of workflow. A working prototype was built to demonstrate how these technologies can be combined to facilitate the analysis of the workflow efficiency, with the real-time data being captured through low-cost and customizable sensors in a manufacturing plant. Besides, a supervisor can easily access such real-time analysis about a specific machine or pipeline anytime and anywhere through a WiFi-enabled consumer electronic devices. During the demonstration, we will firstly present a PowerPoint show embedded with a video clip to illustrate how our prototype successfully worked in a real manufacturing plant in China. In the second part, we will give a live demonstration of our sensor system working on a workflow model built with conveyor belts and simple machines using a robotic toolkit. After all, this research produced promising results for future development.
