About the speaker

Ir MAK Chai-kwong graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1973 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and further obtained a M.Sc. in Urban Planning in 1985 from the same University.  Ir MAK is the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) responsible for the Public Works Programme and Government’s heritage conservation policy. After the 512 WenChuan earthquake, Ir Mak has been actively involved in the HKSAR post-quake reconstruction works in Sichuan. Ir Mak is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers; a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers; a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Senior Member of the China Railway Society. He is also a senior member of the Hong Kong University Graduates Association.
