About the speaker

Ir MAK Chai-kwong graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1973 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and further obtained a M.Sc. in Urban Planning in 1985 from the same University.  Ir MAK is the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) responsible for the Public Works Programme and Government¡¦s heritage conservation policy.  After the 512 WenChuan earthquake, Ir Mak has been actively involved in the HKSAR post-quake reconstruction works in Sichuan.  Ir Mak is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers; a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers; a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Senior Member of the China Railway Society. He is also a senior member of the Hong Kong University Graduates Association.
