CEERP Invited to Give Keynote and Join Panel Discussion at the Finland - Hong Kong Summit on AI and 5G for Smart and Sustainable Cities


Prof. Victor OK Li, Director of CEERP, was invited to give a keynote speech on “AI to Advance Well-being and Society”, showcasing the use of Bayesian Deep Learning for air pollution forecasting in Beijing and London, and Dr. Jacqueline CK Lam, Co-Director of CEERP, was invited to join the panel discussion. Her talk showcased how one can use deep learning techniques to predict happiness due to air pollution. Both speakers highlighted the distinctive objectives of socially beneficial and ethical AI research that CEERP aims to achieve. Academics and government representatives from both Finland and Hong Kong shared the challenges and opportunities of AI in 5G and smart city, and the social and policy implications.

Finland Jacqueline Dr. Jacqueline CK Lam was invited to give a short talk titled “UMeAir: Predicting Momentary Happiness Towards Air Quality via Machine Learning” at the Summit.
