Integrated electricity and gas systems (IEGS) introduce complex coupling relations and induce synergistic operation challenges. Moreover, the growing uncertainty arising from the renewable power generation in the IEGS exacerbates above challenges. This work adopts a two-stage sample robust optimization (SRO) model to address one of the critical problems in the IEGS, i.e., the wind power penetrated unit commitment optimal energy flow (UC-OEF) problem. As an extension of two-stage stochastic and robust optimization based models, the proposed sample robust UC-OEF model inherits both their merits by constructing multiple uncertainty sets, each around one wind power generation data (sample). Thus, the proposed model enjoys the advantages of data-driven methods. We employ the linear decision rule to simplify the sample robust UC-OEF model and enhance its tractability. In addition, we develop a solution method to solve the simplified model. Test results on two IEGS validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and solution method.
Biography of the speaker:
Rongpeng LIU received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 2014, and the M.E. degree in electrical engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2017. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering with the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. His research interests include the integrated electricity and natural gas systems (IEGS), system resilience, and applications of optimization methods in the IEGS.
