Demonstrated in TD-SCDMA Application Experience Centre

Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple access (TD-SCDMA), developed by Datang Telecom in China, is one of the third-generation (3G) mobile system standards approved by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The Datang TD-SCDMA Application Experience Centre in Beijing, China, is established to display TD-SCDMA applications developed by companies and research institutes all over the world. This Center is first of this kind in China.

Our project “3G Mobile Quiz Challenger”, designed for use in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, was selected as one of the exhibits for demonstration to the members of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee in the Experience Center.

Our project team members were invited to attend the opening ceremony. Dr. S.W. Cheung, Dr. V.W.L. Tam and Dr. W.W.T. Fok, attended the ceremony and demonstrated our project in Beijing, while other team members, Dr. K.S. Lui, Dr. Beta Yip and Miss Jade Wong, stayed in the Hong Kong to ensure that the project was up and running smoothly.

It is expected that the project will be deployed as one of the applications during the Olympic Games in August 2008.
