IEEE Communications Society’s 2021 Best Survey Paper Award

Together with collaborators, Dr. Kaibin Huang and his former Ph.D. student, Dr. Changsheng You, have been awarded the IEEE Communications Society’s 2021 Best Survey Paper for their work entitled “A survey on mobile edge computing: The communication perspective” published in the IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials. The highly selective journal has an impact factor of 23.7. Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a 5G technology that aims at pushing mobile computing, network control, and storage to the network edges to enable computation-intensive and latency-critical applications at resource-limited mobile devices. Beyond surveying existing work, the team has proposed a new vision of integrated communication-and-computing in MEC for 5G-and-Beyond, which has led to the emergence of a new, fast-growing area. Since its publication in 2017, this paper has attracted strong interest in both the fields of wireless communications and computer science. As a result, the work has been cited more than 2000 times.
