Two teams of EEE students won a Supreme Award and a Bronze Award in the 11th National Challenge Cup (第十一屆挑戰杯 ~ 全家大學生課外學術科技作品兢賽) in Beijing from Oct 28 to 31, 2009.
The National Challenge Cup is a national competition on students’ projects in science, technology and social science. It is also known as the “Olympic” event in academia among college students in China (http://www.tiaozhanbei.net/). The Cup was organized by Central Committee of the China Communist Youth League (共青團中央), China Association of Sciences (中國科協), Ministry of Education (教育部), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (工业和信息化部) and National Academic Association (全國學聯), and Beijing Municipal Government (北京市人民政府).
One team awarded a Supreme Award in the undergraduate science and technology category. The team members include Cheng Tsz Kwai Cindy (EE2), Au Yeung Hoi Hang Eric (EComE3), Ho Man Chun (EComE3) and Law Kam Yuen Ken (EComE3). The project titled was “Solar-power Multimedia Satellite Real-time Interactive e-Learning System” (太陽能多媒體衛星實時互動電子教育系統). Another team awarded a Bronze Award in the post-graduate social science category. The team members include Wu Mao Mao (Mphi1 Edu), Ng Hung Wai (Mphi1 Edu), Ho Sui Ying Jacqueline Marie (EComE3) and Yeung Hiu Fan Fanny (EComE3). The project title was “IT Education shorten the distance between city and village – A case study of the Yuanjia Primary School in Sichuan” (信息技術教育拉近城鄉學校之間的差距──以重建德陽市袁家學校為案例研究).
There were 1106 teams from 432 universities from all provinces in China participated in the competition. In the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan region, there were 53 teams from 15 universities and only two teams won the Supreme Awards.
