HKU EEE AI Startup wins the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2020: FinTech Award

The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) just announced the winners of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2020: FinTech Award. Fano Labs Ltd., with their innovative solution of an artificial intelligence compliance assurance system called Callinter, became the overall winner of the FinTech Grand Award. The company also won the Gold Award for the Regulatory Technology and Risk Management stream.

Fano Labs was co-founded in 2015 by Dr. Miles Haofu Wen, BEng(CE) and PhD graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Professor Victor On Kwok Li, Chair Professor of EEE Department. In November 2017, Fano Labs became the first HK startup ever invested by Horizons Ventures, the private investment arm of Mr Li Ka-shing, who is a leading investor in some of the world’s most innovative companies and disruptive technologies, including Facebook, DeepMind, Skype, and Siri.
