The Sichuan Reconstruction Project team won the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award (Team Award). Dr. Wilton Fok, Dr. Philip Pong, Dr. YC Wu, Dr. Vincent Tam, Dr. K.S. Lui and Dr. Alfred Yu of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Prof. Ben Young and Dr. George Wong of the Civil Engineering received the award trophy from Prof. Amy Tsue, the Pro-Vice Chancellor in Lok Yew Hall on 26 March 2014.
More than 100 students had jointed this experiential learning project and they applied their engineering knowledge on network communication, e-learning platform development, renewable energy and multimedia technologies for the enhancement of the learning environment of a reconstructed school in Sichuan. The project fulfilled some of the important education aims of the university such as tackling novel situations and ill-defined problems and leadership and advocacy for the improvement of the human condition.
