The following are some tours that show very diverse sides of Hong Kong. They can be booked through a link on the conference website, but are not part of the conference program and are not included in your normal registration.

The Land Between

The New Territories is an enormously diverse suburban area full of contrasts to the cosmopolitan city centre. "The Land Between" is the land bridging the motherland in China and the city centre of Hong Kong . It stands both as a gentle reminder of Hong Kong 's past and its hope for closer relationship with the motherland.

YUEN YUEN INSTITUTE - A religious complex that demonstrates the significance of Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist contributions to the society.


TAI MO SHAN - At Hong Kong's highest mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island and Tsuen Wan industrial town to the south. Driving down hill, stop will be made at the old Fanling Walled Village belonging to a big family clan in the New Territories.


LUK KENG - Luk Keng lies opposite the China boundary, just across Hong Kong's Starling Inlet. You can see the border town on China side and a bird sanctuary in Hong Kong waters where Chinese pond herons and night-herons nest.


SAM MUN TSAI FISH FARMING ZONE - At Sam Mun Tsai fish farming zone, you can see how local fisherfolks breed fish in submerged cages.

Lantau Island is almost twice the size of Hong Kong Island and is one of the best-loved outlying islands. With the new development of Ngong Ping Cable Car, the Island has become a new attraction in Hong Kong. Join us to nature on this tour and explore Tai O, a quaint fishing village where the houses are on stilts, visit the world's tallest, outdoor seated bronze Buddha statue at the Po Lin Monastery.

NGONG PING CABLE CAR - Ngong Ping Cable Car connects Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. The 5.7km cable car journey offers visitors spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau North Country Park and Giant Buddha.


NGONG PING VILLAGE - Enjoy a leisure walk in the Ngong Ping Village where all the buildings are designed as a traditional Chinese architectural features to maintain the cultural and spiritual integrity of the Ngong Ping area.


PO LIN MONASTERY - Known as the "Buddhist Kingdom in the South". Po Lin Monastery is the most popular Buddhist temple in HK. The world's largest outdoor Buddha at the Po Lin Monastery becomes a site of Pilgrimage and is visited by Buddhists' from all over the world. Museum under the Buddha Sakyamuni's relics are enshrined.


TAI O FISHING VILLAGE - Tai O, also known as the " Venice of the East " was once the largest inhabited settlement on Lantau Island. The village's stilt houses on the waterfront, offer a glimpse into Hong Kong's past and provide a striking contrast with the modern city.

2. Should the Cable Car be cancelled due to inclement weather or other safety reasons, alternative transportation will be arranged.

The bus will then pass through neon-lit streets where you will see the towering skyscrapers glittering with decorations against the night sky.
