Mr. Bowei Guo, Cambridge PhD Student Visited HKU This Summer

 

Mr. Bowei Guo, Cambridge PhD Student who visited HKU this summer noted - “It is my great pleasure to work with Professor Victor O.K. Li and Dr Jacqueline C.K. Lam during the past few months. During my stay at HKU, I talked to some very talented PhD students, and I attended the weekly group seminar where students present and discuss their research. I also started up a new project entitled “From Search Entry Lookups to Local Air Quality Index: Evidence from Beijing”. The project studies the relationship between the air quality in Beijing and search entry lookups from Baidu, the most widely used search engine in China, and we find that search entry lookups can be used for the estimation of the air quality index (AQI). The research findings can give other researchers insights on what could be done when reliable AQI data is lacking. The two-month stay is very fruitful and I am looking forward to a long-standing collaboration with Prof. Li and Dr. Lam at HKU.”
