Two Engineering Professors Honoured with Prestigious Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology Award 2024-25

We are delighted to announce two HKU Engineering scholars, Professor Kevin Kin Man TSIA and Professor Han WANG from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, who have been honoured with The Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology (HKEST) Award 2024-25.

Established in 2022 by the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE) and the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the annual HKEST Award honours young scientists and engineers demonstrating exceptional talent and impact in Hong Kong’s engineering and technology sectors. It supports the government’s mission to strengthen and enhance the Innovation and Technology (I&T) ecosystem and cultivate local talent.

Below are the winners of the HKEST Award 2024-25:

^Professor Kevin Kin Man TSIA of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was recognised for his pioneering accomplishments in ultra-fast optical imaging, revolutionising imaging flow cytometry and high-speed in-vivo brain imaging. His innovative bioinformatics approaches for single-cell analysis have also significantly impacted biomedical research, enabling new possibilities in diagnostics and scientific discovery.

^Professor Han WANG of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was honoured for his outstanding contributions to the exploration and development of emerging nanomaterials for novel applications in electronic and photonic device technology. His research propelled the advancement in the field of advanced semiconductors and microelectronics.
